FORMAT

The World Series of Snooker will consist of four tournaments plus a Grand Finals for which the winner will earn €70,000 (£56,000).
The winner of each tournament will receive five points, the runner-up three and losing semi-finalists 1 each.

These points will determine seeding positions for the Grand Finals.

Rafal Jewtuch, who lives in Warsaw, began playing snooker relatively late, at the age of 20,

but has won the Polish Championship four times (1997, 2003, 2006 and 2008).
Last year, he was beaten 4-2 by John Higgins in the Polish Masters.

He coaches youngsters in Poland and commentates on snooker for Eurosport.

 

 

MARTYN DESPERQUES

Martyn Desperques, born in Halifax but resident in Guernsey since 1987, has been in the last six national snooker finals in Guernsey and has won three of them. He is also
three times Channel Islands snooker champion and won the Guernsey individual league title in its inaugural year, 2008.
A talented cueist, he has also won the last three Guernsey national billiards titles and two Channel Islands titles at the three-ball game. Desperques is also twice Guernsey
pool champion. He works as a group employee senior benefits administrator.

 


GARY BRITTON
Jersey
Date of birth: 23/7/73
Highest tournament break: 147


Gary Britton, a former England international, has won three Channel Islands snooker titles and four Channel Islands billiards titles.

He won all snooker titles in Jersey this year apart from the national championship.


Britton, who works in the treasury department of the RBS bank, lost only two frames in 74 in the Jersey individual league last season.

He played on the Challenge Tour for two seasons from 2000-2002.


AARON CANAVAN
Jersey
Date of birth: 10/8/75
Highest tournament break: 146


Aaron Canavan is the reigning Jersey and Channel Islands snooker champion.

Last year, he compiled three centuries in the final of the Channel Islands Championship but still lost 4-3 to Gary Britton.


Canavan has lived in Jersey for 14 years and has been playing snooker regularly since he was 22.

He and his business partner run a business, Jersey Classic Car Hire.
