Match Notes

Good afternoon, welcome to the start of this match... both players knocked out Seeds to get through and will now be looking for a quarter final place...

Bingham gets the first opportunity to settle down with a break... going well on 44 now, break ends at 45, so Bingham leads by 50... Perry's gaining a toe hold in the frame, he's moved on to 16, 37-50 behind and there his break ends. Bingham has got the green to move a single point in front, the blue eludes him so just five points the difference on the blue... Stuart eventually clinches the frame with the pink... Bingham's going well in frame two, he's moved along to 35 but he's failed at that point and let Perry in... and Joe's already moved 53-35 ahead and can add more here and he clears up, well nearly, the black left the table... Stuart is nicely amongst the balls in the third, 25 made so far, he broke down but he's back in with another chance... no mistake this time, Stuart's closed out the frame... A scoring for Perry in the fourth...  and that 48 is enough to bring the scores level at the interval... Play has resumed and already Bingham has rattled along to 50... this is a magnificent break by Bingham, but it ends at 98... Bingham's motoring again the next, on to 34, but it ends at 41.. Perry is right back in the frame, on 35 now, all change again, Perry breaks down leading 57-41 and Swail has found a red... and cleared up and he's opened a two frame gap now at 4-2... Perry is fighting back in frame seven, onto 36 and counting.. the break ends at 52... Bingham's brief revival ends at 13... Bingham's back in again and that 49 clearance gives him the frame on the black... Joe Perry has started well again, in the last of the afternoon, he's on a run of 48 at the moment and that 65 is enough to take the last frame of the session.

Good morning, the second session of this match is underway... Bingham misses a red, scatters the pack and leaves a nice chance for Perry... disaster for Perry, he's made 40 but gone in off, at least there's no easy red left... Perry's created another opening from that safety exchange... Joe moves 66-10 ahead with two reds left... Bingham concedes... A bad safety error by Stuart and Joe has a nice chance in frame ten... he's moved along to 36 already but his break ends at 55... Bingham makes 17 in reply... Joe gets back in to wrap up the frame... First chance to Perry in the next... a great start for him so far this morning, he's levelled the match and would love to get ahead now... onto 32 and he's in good position here, but he's missed on 45 and let Stuart back in... that effort yields only 22 points... Bingham's got another opportunity... he brings the scores level but lets Joe in again and he's cleared up... Bingham runs in 32 to start frame twelve but he's broken down... Stuart gets another chance and now he's pushed on to win the frame... so it's 6-6 at the interval, that will be a relief now to Bingham, after a poor start this morning...

Bingham is back with a bang after the interval, onto a run of 49, all blacks so far.. 72 now... the effort ends at 73, Perry needs a snooker but he's back the table, but he can't get the snookers, Bingham regains the lead... Perry opens a 37 point lead in frame fourteen, but Bingham responds with 23 before missing an easy red... Perry adds 34 to win the frame and level the scores again... Perry's made a great break in the next, already 63... and a nice 78 take him ahead again... Perry is first amongst the balls in the last of the session but at 26 he's missed and given Stuart a chance... only 13 but he's got Perry in trouble on the safety, two misses so far... this is a long safety exchange, this match is very tight, can Bingham level at 8-8 or will Joe round off a very good morning's work to lead 9-7... Bingham misses a long red and Perry is building a break and it's a frame winner, so he takes a 9-7 lead into tonight's final session

Well what a start to the final session. Perry led by 51, Bingham has cleared with 65 to win the frame.. Perry is opening a lead again, 55 ahead with this contribution of 26 and he's turned it into a frame winning visit... it's good stuff from both players tonight, this time it's Bingham who's on a frame winning visit, 69 now and there's the century, superb break... 130... it was always on the cards, but it really does look like this match is going right to the wire, the players are so closely matched... It's tit for tat tonight, now it's Perry building a break in frame twenty... but he's broken down at 28... well he's got another chance to add to his score... that visit of 32 doubles his tally to 64-0... Perry finds the red he needs to win the frame and open a two frame lead again... the players are back from the interval and Joe Perry is first to get a red.. but only a red and Bingham takes over at the table... but not for long and Perry has a good scoring chance now and it's another excellent break from Joe, up to 69, frame safe and he's one frame from the winning line now... Bingham has the first chance in the next, he needs a miracle now... he misses, Joe misses, Bingham gets a second chance... he's got to 63 and missed a sitter, Perry could clear up now... 14 behind on the blue and he's produced a brilliant 55 clearance to the black to win.
