playing off for the right to challenge Joe Davis in the final.

 

Birmingham professional Fred Lawrence came through 2 matches for the right to meet defending champion Davis.

Fred Lawrence took part in a billiards game of 3,000 up against his younger brother Arthur (aged 14). Fred conceded 1,700 start. Having gathered the balls along the left side cushion Fred got into position for the cradle stroke and compiled a break of 1,864, of which 912 were cannons. The average time for each fifty cannons was 1 minute 45 seconds. Arthur achieved runs of 59, 40, 38 and 34.
