NO BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JASSEM  DATE: 29 July 2004

The audience sang Happy Birthday to Qatar's Jassem Al-Marri who celebrates his sixteenth birthday today, but his opponent Pankaj Advani, wasn't in the mood to hand the teenager any presents.

The IBSF World Champion constructed breaks of 52, an exquisite 73 clearance, and 56, while Al-Marri managed only 38 points in total.

There was more cheer for Qatar's Nisar Ahmed Saif who recorded his second win, with an excellent 4-1 score line against India's Saurav Kothari.

Kothari opened the match with a run of 73, but Saif pinched the second on the black and then snatched the third as well, despite a break of 46 from the Indian. And he carried on in the same vein, taking the next two closely contested frames on the colours.

Bahrain put their first win on the board when Hussain Mahmoud (right) beat New Zealand's Andrew Mischefski 4-1.

And despite the fact that he lost 4-1, Nawaf Salah Al Ameer can boast of taking a frame off England's Judd Trump.

The English Open Champion set off with a 120 clearance, but Al Ameer stuck to his task to clinch a low scoring second frame. That set back spurred Trump on as he ran in breaks of 41, 82 and 64 to win.

England's Gary Wilson also had his scoring boots on. Having taken the first frame on the black against Welshman Michael White, Wilson smacked in breaks of 59, 61 and 65 to show just how he's gained his Main Tour promotion.

Jamie Jones and Aled Brothers redeemed Welsh honour with two quick fire 4-0 wins. Jones compiled breaks of 47, 66 and finished off with a 71 clearance against France's Jerome Anglade, while Brothers produced a break of 85 in frame two of his win over Bahrian's Nawaf Salah Al Ameer.
