China's Tian Pengfei compiled the day's only century, a run of 106, in the first frame of a 3-0 win over Qatar's Nisar Ahmed Saif.
It was a good day all round for China as Cui Ming recorded a 3-1 win in Group A against Ziaur R Azad from Bangladesh and Liang Wenbo, semi finalist in the World under 21s, raced to a 3-0 win in Group H against Iran's Hesam Poyanfar with breaks of 49 and 78.
Host country Malaysia got off to a flying start with wins for John Loh Ei Loong, Chooi Yew Wah, Wong Kai Kuan and Moh Keen Ho. Only Lai Chee Wei failed to make it a clean sweep, losing out 3-1 to Thailand's Jessada Posukarn in Group F.
India's Aditya Mehta carried on his good form from Ireland, where he reached the quarter finals, running in breaks of 53 and 69 in a 3-1 win over Hong Kong's Kong Man Ho.
Team mate and reigning IBSF World Champion Pankaj Advani, compiled breaks of 61 and 75 in a 3-0 Group A win against Sri Lanka's Shiran Sawall. And India's third player Sourav Kothari made it a hat trick of wins, beat Iran's Mehdi Rasekhi 3-0.
There was consolation for Iran when the very promising thirteen year old, Amir Sarkosh, opened his campaign in Group A with a 3-1 win against Azad from Bangladesh. |
