GENERAL CUP INTERNATIONAL IN HONG KONG                                                       11 SEPTEMBER 2004

Dominic Dale, the World No. 32, heads the international line-up gathered in Hong Kong for the 2004 General Cup International.

Joining Dominic on the flight from the United Kingdom were the European Champion Mark Allen, and the IBSF World Under 21 Champion Gary Wilson.

The Brits will pit their skills against some of the brightest talent from across Asia.

And leading the Asian challenge is the reigning IBSF World Champion Pankaj Advani from India.

Host nation Hong Kong will be pinning their hopes on Chan Kwok Ming, Fung Kwok Wai and Au Chi Wai.

Welshman Dale didn't have a match on the opening day, but he kept the local fans entertained with his trick shot routine and chat. Mark Allen and Gary Wilson were also on hand to show off their skills.

But it wasn't such a happy debut for Wilson when he lost 4-1 to Thailand's Atthasit Mahitthi in his opening match. Wilson who was edged out 5-4 by Mark Selby on his Main Tour debut on Wednesday, managed to roll in a break of 66, but Mahitthi countered with 54 and 55.

China's Pang Weiguo compiled breaks of 51 and 59 in a 4-1 defeat of Hong Kong's Chan Wei Kei, but Chan Kwok Ming gave the homes fans plenty to cheer about, beating Malaysia's Ooi Chin Kai 4-1 with a top break of 66.
