Be warned if you plan a visit to an American club, some of their tables are 10 foot tables, not the 12 foot tables you may expect.

You will find a huge variety of pool (pocket billiards) tables all over America, on which are played the full array of cue sports disciplines - 9-ball, 8-ball, straight pool, 14-1 etc.

Carom also thrives in America and there are pockets of interest in "English" billiards.

Snooker is the least well known and practiced of the cue sports disciplines but interest and awareness continues to grow, partly through the successes of former snooker players Allison Fisher and Karen Corr in the women's 9-ball circuit.

Also players like Steve Davis and Jimmy White and Tony Drago have become household names due to their exploits in 9-ball competitions.
