Global Snooker Countries - Malta

Malta is probably Europe's longest established snooker country, with it Association founded in 1935. It has a rich pedigree in both billiards and snooker with national championships under the current Association, stretching back to 1947.

The name of Tony Drago is known across the world to audiences of the major professional events, but equally well known are other great champions from the country, including Paul Mifsud, who won both the IBSF Billiards and Snooker titles, Joe Grech, and Alex Borg to name just a few.

And it's not just on the table that Malta excels. They're renowned for the staging of the successful Malta Grand Prix and other World Professional Ranking events. They've played host to IBSF and EBSA events and in 2005 will host the Malta Cup, the European Team Championship, an event in which they are defending Champions, and the IBSF World Billiards Championship.

That is made possible by a superb National Association and Promotions company, and when you add on their portfolio of world class referees, you have a complete package.
