Global Snooker Countries - India

[11/01/05]

India has a long, rich snooker pedigree, but it is better known as the country that has produced some of the World's greatest billiard players and it still reigns as the leading "English" Billiards country, hosting many professional and amateur events.

I haven't come across many snooker sites in India, nor billiards for that matter, nor are there many personal pages featuring cue sports, but one of the best resources for billiards news is the Indian Media.

India played host to the IBSF World Under 21 Championship in August 2000. Bangalore staged the event, its first return to India since Ronnie O'Sullivan became the youngest Under 21 Champion when he was just 15 years old.

In 2003 India hosted the IBSF World Billiards in Hyderabad, an event billed as one of the most successful ever.

These lists are not complete and if anyone can fill in any gaps, we'd like to hear from you.
